I had always said that Coach was the sort of thing that I could let a boyfriend buy for me, to show how much I was worth to him. But I was tired of waiting around for a boy to spend an extravagant amount on me. I could afford it myself, and I was worth it, so why was I waiting around? That's what I was thinking that day. I was even more convinced when the sales lady asked me whether I wanted a gift receipt. When I said no, she seemed taken aback that I was buying it for myself, as if I didn't look like the type to buy something from their store. But after I made the purchase, I definitely felt guilty about it, and I thought about returning it several times. But then I remembered the reason I bought it, and so I kept it. For that reason, it is now symbolic to me. I can’t justify spending the money either, but that day, I was tired of saying “No” to myself. Elizabeth Arden Green Tea used to be my smell, mostly because someone bought it for my mom and she never used it. I liked the lightness of it, but I also like the smell of tropical fruits, and it didn't really have that. Not that the Oscar de la Renta perfume smells tropical, but it is slightly fruitier.
